Can I also learn the content of the DDP Foundation level through self-study?
Of course. The DDP syllabus and the handbook as well as the book Basiswissen Digital Design recommended reading] are a good help if this is the method of training you choose.
Use the mock exam to check whether you are sufficiently prepared for the exam.

Is the DDP certificate recognized internationally?
Yes, the certificate is recognized internationally and is also valid indefinitely.
How long does it take to prepare for the DDP exam?
The duration of the preparation depends on your prior knowledge and the chosen preparation method. The duration of preparation through self-study may vary, while structured training usually takes several days.
The duration of a training course is specified in the respective syllabus; as a rule, it is a 2 to 3-day course.
What costs are associated with DDP certification?
The costs vary depending on the chosen preparation method (self-study or training) and the examination fee. For more detailed information, please contact the respective training providers and certifiers.
Are there any prerequisites for taking the DDP exam?
There are no formal prerequisites for the DDP Foundation level exam.
Can I take the DDP exam online?
This option is generally available, but depends on the certifier. You can find out more on the websites of the certification bodies.
How many times can I repeat the DDP exam if I don't pass?
The examination can be repeated up to two times without a waiting period. If the examination is not passed on the third attempt, a waiting period of one year must be observed
How do I register for the exam?
When you register for a training course (face-to-face training or online training), you can usually register for the exam at the same time. The training provider will then organize the exam or you will receive a voucher which you can then redeem at a certifier of your choice.

In the case of self-study, you can register directly with a certifier of your choice.
The examinations are conducted by a certification body either after the training or publicly. Alternatively, you can take the exam online.
In which languages can I take the DDP exam?
You can take the exam in German or English.
What form does the exam take?
The Foundation level exam is a multiple-choice exam. Further information can be found in the examination regulations.
How do I know if I have passed the exam?
The certifiers will evaluate your exam, inform you of the result, and send you your DDP certificate if you pass.
Does the exam follow directly after the training?
The exam can be taken directly after the training but it does not have to be.
As a rule, you will receive a voucher that you can redeem with the certifier. You can then choose a date for your exam that suits you.
Is there a discount for students?
This depends on your chosen training provider or certifier. As a rule, students with a valid student ID receive a 50% discount on the certification costs.
Do I have to attend a training course to take the exam?
No, participation in a training course is optional. You can also take the exam without prior training if you feel you are sufficiently prepared.

How can I book an exam date?

What types of exams are there?
You can choose between online exams and on-site exams, depending on what suits you best . Information can be found here.
What is the best way to prepare for the exam?
We recommend taking part in one of the many training courses on offer and using the official DDP teaching materials to prepare yourself optimally.
If I fail the exam, do I have to go through the training again to retake the exam?
Further training to repeat the exam is not necessary.
The examination can be repeated up to two times without a waiting period. If the third attempt is also unsuccessful, you must wait 1 year after this examination before taking the examination again.
Do I have to contact a training provider and a certifier if I want to obtain the DDP certificate?
The concept of DDP certification follows the DIN EN ISO/IEC 17024:2012 standard, which requires a strict separation of training and certification in order to avoid conflicts of interest. DDP training providers and DDP certification bodies are independent organizations.
Participation in a training course covers the training itself as well as the organization of the examination, which is then conducted by an independent certifier who also issues the certificate afterwards.
If you have opted for self-study, you can also contact a certifier of your choice directly for certification.
What is a certification body?
A certifier recognized by IREB certrification body conducts the DDP examinations, evaluates them, and issues the DDP certificate in the name of IREB after successful completion.
